Inspector is a Code Execution Monitoring tool that helps software developers to identify bugs and bottlenecks in their application automatically. Before users stumble onto the problem.
Valerio Barbera, a software engineer with a long career in software development, founded Inspector with two co-founders to solve a crucial problem for software developers: identifying bugs and issues in application code early on, helping developers avoid customer complaints.
Inspector is a bootstrapped company today with customers in more than 30 countries. None of this would have been possible without my two co-founders, and all the companies and developers around the world who gave Inspector a chance.
Valerio noticed that during support chats, users often suggested features that could improve Inspector.dev. He wanted to use these interactions more effectively and provide a space where users could freely share their ideas. This led him to look for a solution that could integrate with Inspector and streamline the feature request process.
Now our users can actively contribute to choosing which features we should implement to make Inspector an increasingly effective tool to make developers’ lives easier.
Valerio experimented with different platforms, such as Canny, but found them too expensive for a first-time user. He needed a tool that was budget-friendly and could expand with his user base.
We were looking for a platform that would allow us to scale gradually. And FeeBear truly fits our needs.
FeedBear stood out because of its cost-effective pricing and the ability to integrate with Inspector.dev's existing user system. It offered a single sign-on feature, which meant users could use their Inspector credentials to log in, and it allowed for a custom domain, which provided a branded experience.
It was important for us to integrate the user authentication process with Inspector. We wanted our users to be able to log in to the dashboard with their Inspector account. Avoiding any registration.
After integrating FeedBear, Inspector.dev immediately saw engagement. Within the first week, users posted feature ideas, proving the worth of the initiative.
Valerio has a clear goal: to increase the value users see in Inspector and avoiding the risk of building the wrong features.
Not knowing what users want from your product means risking failure: you can put a lot of effort on things that don't truly impact on the user experience. I didn't want to take these risks, and I think you shouldn't either.
The integration with FeedBear encourages users to share their problems and needs, which is essential for the growth of the product.
Valerio's experience with FeedBear highlights the importance of user feedback in the product development cycle. For other businesses considering a similar move, he stresses that understanding user needs is fundamental to improving a product’s value and ensuring customer retention.
